List of reasons Jesus is both Human and Divine Jesus

Human and divine. Yes, really! Reflecting on this truth is important, especially since many challenge its veracity. Furthermore, the above image reminds us that Jesus gets us because He is human and He saves us because He is divine. Just like the virgin birth and the Trinity, Jesus isn’t our Savior without these truths.

A LENTEN DEVOTION
Human and Divine: Ponder These Verses on His Humanity

Jesus you showed me your humanity:

Human and Divine : Jesus Alone in the garden shows His humaness

In Bethlehem: Jesus came as a baby born in a human way. Moreover, He was born in the poorest of conditions. (Luke 2: 6-7)

By facing temptation: Jesus faced temptation in the desert and therefore is able to empathize with our human desires. (Matthew 4: 1-10 and Hebrews 2:18 and 4: 15)

Sitting at the well exhausted: Our savior was traveling from place to place preaching and healing. This day He was headed to Galilee through Samaria. Hungry (another human quality) He sends the disciples into town for food. Meanwhile, Jesus wearily rests at Jacob’s well. (John 4: 4-7)

As you wept for your friend: Lazarus died and when Jesus saw the grief it cause Lazarus’ sisters and felt the pain of loss the Bible tells us ‘Jesus wept.’ (John 11: 32-36)

In the famous event of Jesus praying in the garden, He was so distraught at what was to come He sweated drops of blood. (Matthew 26: 36-29 and Luke 22: 39 -46)

Jesus you showed me your divinity:

In creation: Did you know Jesus created the world? Check out Genesis 1:26 and note the “we” in creation refers to the Trinity. Additionally, Jesus’ own words emphasizes His role in creation. (John 1: 1-3 and Colossians 1: 16-17)

Through Your miracles: Obviously, miracles are throughout the New Testament. Jesus healed (Mark 1: 40-45), He controlled nature (Mark 4: 35-41), cast out demons (Matthew 8:16), fed thousands (Matthew 14: 13-21) and even raised the dead (John 11: 43-44).

Willingness to die for my sins: Christ took on our sins so that we can be saved. (1 Peter 2: 24)

The Resurrection: (Luke 24)
