Hi, everyone. I am posting midweek because of an email I received from a friend about surviving Hurricane Irma. The letter reminds us how God is at work, even during difficult times.
Here are some excerpts from the letter:
Dear Friends,
How do you report on what it’s like to go through a hurricane? Well, a bit scary for point one, but the main point is to experience the preservation, protection, and power of God.
Amazing incidents occurred, which people acknowledged was something only God could and would do. For instance, pulling that water out of the Bay far into the Gulf, and dry land appearing where such had never appeared to our knowledge! People were walking on the Bay’s sandy bottom, something they have never seen before!
The water eventually rolled back in, but not with the surge that it could have, had it swept in as predicted! Some have said it was like the children of Israel under Moses’ leadership crossing the Red Sea on dry land! (Exodus 14: 21-22) That in Tampa Bay area is a “God-thing.”
Makes you smile! God showed so specifically His omnipotence, omniscience, and personal omnipresence. Don’t ever doubt God’s abilities, His ways, although we surely don’t always understand them! Read wonderful passages of God’s doings in Psalm 77: 14—19, 107: 21—31, and 148: 7, 8.
Isn’t God good? I know that he has been gracious – all His grace and mercy which we do not deserve, believe me!
Thank you for your love, concerns, prayer, and communications! I am so thankful for you.
Spared through His Grace alone!
Do you ever feel like God is far away? Hope this letter reminds you that God is always in our midst. My next blog, which posts on Friday, is titled “When God is Distant.” It offers some practical steps to draw closer to God from the Book of James. The “Word of the Week” devotion focuses on developing an eternal perspective, and the kids learn that God loves them so much He knows them by name.
Don’t forget our friends in Texas and Florida. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. They are still hurting and in need. If possible, contribute financially by choosing an organization that has workers on the ground, and give as generously as you can. Many are still without power and there is a lot of cleanup and heartache to get through.
So, please keep praying!
Thanks for sharing.
