Paul often used a racing analogy when referring to our Christian walk. So in 2019, we are running the race for Jesus by learning more about our Savior and through acts of service.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV).

After all, working out is a common New Year’s resolution. However, we all know the sad stats on this and other resolutions. They usually last for about two weeks or maybe a month and we give up. Consequently, when we said goodbye to 2018 and made the leap into 2019, I proposed a New Year’s resolution with a different style and purpose.

Christian Workout 2019

SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Christian workout is the theme for 2019. After all, we talk about our Christian walk so why not strengthen our walk with Jesus through spiritual exercises.

Christian workout Walking

Instead of selecting a couple of resolutions for the year we set bite-sized goals thus focusing on one Christian workout each month.

You can pump up or scale down this Christian workout to fit your personality, needs, and schedule. If one routine a month is too overwhelming choose the ones that appeal to you the most. Anything you do to grow spiritually will benefit your Christian walk.

CHRISTIAN WORKOUT INSTRUCTIONS

I have put together twelve workouts – most of which have resources and videos to click on for further information. There is also a suggestion for service each month.

Get a tablet or journal to make notes as you accomplish these monthly goals, consequently giving you a year-end reference to review that will provide a sense of accomplishment.

Christian Workout Journal

We should note our service efforts in our notebooks too.

At the end of each month, I will post the following month’s Christian Workout. Please don’t skip over the links and videos or you will miss a lot of interesting and educational information, therefore losing some of the benefits of the workout.

Finally, make this Christian workout your own. These suggestions aren’t supposed to add stress or make anyone feel guilty. Perhaps you want to skip the service suggestions – or do only the service ideas. As mentioned above you might choose to do some months and not others. It would be great to encourage one another throughout the year by commenting on how our strength training is going.

It is my prayer we will all grow spiritually during 2019 by completing the Christian workout as it fits your schedule.
